Just dropping off a few photos

Hi again! Not a lengthy post here since I just wrote yesterday (and we have another excursion tomorrow), but I wanted to leave a few additional pictures here. Tomorrow we're off to Covadonga - and the weather looks like it's gonna be great! We have had a great week of continued preparation for the farewell show, and in our classes we've learned how to count syllables in Spanish-language poetry (it's different and kind of strange!), begun an intro to phonetics, dug deeper into Asturian history, and practiced with two rather tricky verb tenses in Spanish - the preterite vs imperfect. Here are a couple of pictures from break time today. We take a short break after our first two morning classes, before we do two more and then have lunch. The students generally go out for some fresh air and we instructors go to a little cafe inside the school. Jessica had to run an errand during break time today and snagged some of these great photos - lots of smiles!

Week 2...finding a groove

(View from one of the windows in our building) Hi again! We´re hoping that everyone back home is doing well! I have the sense that we have settled into a rhythm and the students feel like they are getting a handle on things here. They are constantly remarking about how much their Spanish is improving, and I can tell they are getting more and more confident in their language abilities. Rest assured...they are learning a lot! Monday after classes and our afternoon activities, the instructors went to a restaurant to watch the USA-Spain World Cup match. We invited the students to come watch with us during their free time, if they wanted. It was an optional activity, so a few students chose to spend their time elsewhere, b

Week 1...done!

Hola from Oviedo! It is hard to believe that we've just barely been here a week - the students have so many great stories to tell about their host families, they have found little adventures during their free time, and I know that our classes have gotten off to a great start. I'm leaving a LOT of photos below, although I can't promise that they are all in order. As I was organizing for this blog a few things got jumbled up...so maybe there are a couple repetitions or jumps back and forth, but enjoy nonetheless! Here are some words about the last few days: We had three full days of class and afternoon activities this week as well as a local excursion today. In my class, yesterday we discussed the most famous chapter from Don Quijote and talked about a number of ideas (What was Don Quijote thinking when he attacked those windmills?!? How is Sancho Panza different from Don Quijote? And what does Cervantes want us to take away from this relationship?) I know that the l
