A few pictures from our day in Madrid -- admittedly, I didn't get as many pictures here as I'd hoped to. My apologies! I'm sure your students have a bunch though. Starting week 3...time is flying by!

Wow! We are approaching the halfway point of our trip...it is hard to believe! Yesterday in our student support and success groups we discussed how the trip is unfolding now that we´ve been here for a little while. Each student has their own personal experience, of course, but in general the consensus seems to be that we have now entered a new phase. At first everything was very new and we struggle a lot with the language barrier, but we have settled into a routine (more or less) and the language barrier seems less and less of a challenge. We discussed some strategies for making the most of our remaining time here, and I expect that our students will continue to thrive. Our excursion last Friday was so much fun...and we saw so much! We started at the Museo Jurásico (dinosaurs in Asturias!), then visited Covadonga (when you hear from your students, ask them about the historical importance of this site - they have learned about it and should have something interesting to say!), took a

Madrid > Asturias > Oviedo

*For special effect, please read the following post with the first video playing* Our looooooooooooooong journey has finally come to an end! *Cue the Asturian bagpipes*                   Where last year, we were met with hot, arid weather in Madrid, this year Central and Northern Spain have had an unusual cold and rainy season! The brown and dry landscapes were replaced by lots of green and lovely flowers. BUT, this green is not the green of Asturias 😉 . We crossed the mountains of Asturias during our last hour and a half stretch of our 5+ hour bus ride from Madrid. The mountains are breathtaking. Pictures always fail to capture their grandeur, but all the same, their beauty is evident. Exhausted students = awkward but funny sleeping positions    ↔ Here we were in sight of the mountains! These connect to the Peaks of Europe, which go on to connect to the Pyrenees Mountain Range.  Juan, li
